A 33-year-old man told police he was shot after being taken into an apartment at gunpoint near Belmont Harbor on Sunday evening. Chicago police are investigating what caused the shooting.
The man called 911 about 7:39 p.m. to report being shot in the 3600 block of North Pine Grove Avenue. Officers discovered him with a gunshot wound in the neck. In serious condition, Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The victim resides in the building where he was found.
The shooting was the third reported shooting victim in Lakeview this year, one more than at the same point last year. It is still considerably below the neighborhood’s recent totals and the lowest year-to-date figure since 2018, when one person was shot at this stage in the year.
