A 67-year-old woman was hospitalized after being shot in the leg outside her home in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood early Friday morning, according to police.
According to police, the victim’s son witnessed two men stealing from his mother’s car, which was parked outside her home in the 9300-block of South Stewart at around 5:45 a.m.
According to sources, as the son opened the door to their home to confront the men, one of them opened fire on him. His mother was struck on the left leg. She was transported to Christ Hospital, where her condition was reported to be stable.
An officer on the scene described the suspects to dispatch as two males, one dressed in a black sweatshirt and green sweatpants and the other in a black hoodie, black pants, and a skullcap or hat and carrying a gray or green bookbag.
Police stated the two men fled the scene. No one is in custody, and the inquiry is ongoing.
