A 23-year-old Texas man will serve at least 30 years in prison for attacking and kidnapping a pregnant convenience store clerk in Montgomery County.
On August 5, a jury found Logan Michael Parker guilty of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. The following day, after a brief deliberation, the jury sentenced him to two concurrent life sentences in state prison. According to Texas law, Parker cannot ask for parole for at least 30 years.
According to trial evidence, Parker stopped at a gas station on State Highway 105 shortly after midnight to buy a drink. When his credit card was denied, the clerk utilized her employee discount to give him a free drink.
Parker returned moments later, parked behind the store, turned off his headlights, and walked inside. He dragged the cashier into a restroom, threatened her life, sexually attacked her, and took her phone. After fleeing, the victim hid inside the store until customers arrived and dialed 911.
The Conroe Police Department’s investigators used security video, phone records, car tracking, and DNA evidence to identify and arrest Parker.
Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill and Division Chief Shanna Redwine oversaw the prosecution.
“This case was built on three things: a survivor’s courage, exceptional police work, and the facts,” Hill stated. “The Conroe Police Department did an exceptional investigation, and the evidence left little doubt about who committed these crimes. The jury acknowledged this, and their decision resulted in the removal of a dangerous offender from our community.”
District Attorney Mike Holley lauded both the victim and the law enforcement team.
“The facts of this case are difficult to read because they reveal calculated evil,” Holley stated. “A woman showed compassion to this defendant. He repaid that generosity by returning to the business and performing a horrific act of violence against the individual who assisted him. Thanks to the survivor’s extraordinary courage, the outstanding work of the Conroe Police Department, and the commitment of Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill, Division Chief Shanna Redwine, and the entire prosecution team, this defendant will spend at least the next three decades behind bars before being eligible for parole.”
