Chicago man accused of killing victim and robbing 3 others at gunpoint on Southwest Side

A Chicago man faces felony charges after fatally shooting another man and robbing three others at gunpoint on the Southwest Side in June.

According to Chicago police, Luis Suarez-Vasquez, 18, has been charged with many felonies, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, and three charges of kidnapping.

Police said the charges arise from an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 14, in the 1700 block of West Garfield Boulevard, in the Back of the Yards.

On that day, police say Suarez-Vasquez reportedly shot and murdered an 18-year-old man in the vicinity.

Officers allege that Suarez-Vasquez robbed three victims at gunpoint during the same incident.

On Wednesday, authorities apprehended Suarez-Vasquez in Markham and arrested him.
