Two women who were robbed at gunpoint on Chicago’s South Side have warned people to keep vigilant and mindful of their surroundings.

The women claimed they were on their way home early Wednesday when they stopped at a gas station near 74th and State streets.
They stated armed men approached their vehicle, opened the doors, and pointed pistols at them. The robbers stole their purses, phones, money, and other valuables.
The women claimed they raised their hands and complied with the robbers’ demands. They believe the decision could have saved their lives.
They are now warning others to be careful even in familiar settings. You’ve got kids with army rifles robbing women. “And they got army guns,” Jazmin Riley explained. “Robbery is robbery.” There’s no time restriction. Robberies can occur at any time of day or night, so be cautious. Be more cautious. When I saw the car, I should have taken off.”
The other woman stated that she was afraid, but she put her hands up and followed the robbers’ instructions. She believes this is why she survived.
She claimed she had been celebrating her birthday before the robbery.
The criminals took her money and phone, she claimed, but they also stole something more difficult to replace: her sense of security.
