A resident of Ohio has been apprehended in Northern Michigan for driving drunk.
At 10:35 p.m. on July 25, troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post stopped a pickup truck driven by Michael Lewandowski, 48, on County Road 633 in Blair Township for a vehicle infraction.
According to police, when troopers approached Lewandowski, they noticed symptoms of alcohol and suspected he was intoxicated. During a probable cause search of the car, authorities discovered an open container of alcohol and seized a loaded handgun and several filled magazines.
Lewandowski was arrested and booked into the Grand Traverse County Jail without incident.
According to police, he was arraigned on July 27 in Grand Traverse County’s 86th District Court on charges of carrying a hidden weapon, operating with a Blood Alcohol Content of.17 or more, possessing weapons while under the influence, and operating a vehicle with an open alcohol container.
Lewandowski’s next court appearance is on August 4 at 2:00 p.m.
