An unlicensed driver was detained after being spotted driving a car with a cracked windshield in the Village of Fenney.
Javier Rodriguez Martinez, 25, of Leesburg, was driving a blue Toyota Corolla near the intersection of Warm Springs Avenue and Morse Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. on July 28, according to a Wildwood Police Department arrest report.
An officer on patrol saw the car with a damaged front windshield and air fresheners hanging from the rearview mirror, both of which obstructed the driver’s vision. The officer made a traffic stop and requested the driver’s credentials.
Martinez admitted he had neither a driver’s license nor identification. A computer check through Sumter County Communications revealed that Martinez had never received a driver’s license.
He received a warning for the damaged windshield and a uniform traffic penalty for driving without a license. Martinez was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid license and put into the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after paying a $500 bond.
