A 34-year-old woman is being held without bond after reportedly punching a man in the face following a heated dispute at Wildwood RV Village.
Sumter County Sheriff’s officers arrested Haley Dawn McCurry on Friday morning. She was brought into Sumter County Detention Center on a misdemeanor allegation of domestic violence.
At around 9:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a house at the RV park on State Road 44 in Wildwood due to a physical disturbance. Before they arrived, the victim called dispatch to report that McCurry had reportedly assaulted him.
According to the arrest report, the victim informed deputies that the two had a verbal dispute before McCurry reportedly punched him on the left side of his face with a clinched fist. She also allegedly hurled an object, described in the report as a ring, at him.
The arresting deputy noticed red stains and discoloration on the victim’s left side of the face, with the bruising darkening during the investigation, indicating a new injury. The deputy also noticed a ring on the kitchen counter inside the trailer.
After being read her Miranda rights, McCurry reportedly stated deputies she did not hit the victim.
A criminal background check indicated that McCurry has no prior battery convictions. Because the dispute was domestic in nature, she was arrested without bond.
