Girlfriend apprehended after fight sparked by pulling plug on loud television

A Leesburg woman was apprehended for battery after allegedly hitting her boyfriend during an argument about the television plug.

An officer responded to a physical incident between 29-year-old Brittany Renee Sapp and her boyfriend at their Leesburg home around 11:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The boyfriend stated that they had been dating for five to six years and had lived together for around one year. They were in their bedroom when an argument erupted about him watching TV. Sapp became disturbed by the volume and, after arguing about it, removed the plug from the wall, according to the complaint.

He proceeded to plug it back in, but it was dark and she was sitting on a chair in front of the socket, so they fumbled over each other. He still plugged in the television, so Sapp pushed him away from her. She then moved up to him and struck his left bicep. According to the story, this resulted in a red mark on his arm.

The officer then spoke with Sapp, who claimed that the couple had been having relationship troubles since June. She recalled the identical series of events, but added that the incident did not get physical. She was unaware of any bruises, but she did admit to pushing her boyfriend since he was on top of her while attempting to plug in the television, according to the report.

Sapp was eventually arrested on the charge of simple violence (domestic) and brought into the Lake County Jail. She was freed on her own recognizance and is required to appear in court on August 4.
