Police in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community said a child was discovered deceased after being reported missing on Sunday.
Officials said a 13-year-old boy went missing on Sunday evening.
Officers responding to the report discovered the child deceased in an irrigation canal near Gilbert and Thomas roads.
The Salt River Fire Department, Mesa Police Department, and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the search.
Police said there were no clear indicators of foul play, and the youngster had medical issues.
The investigation is underway.
