A Florida man is facing numerous felony charges after allegedly submitting over $159,000 in fraudulent health insurance claims, state officials reported today.
Torey Jermaine Keith was arrested on June 11, 2026, following an investigation by the Department of Financial Services’ Criminal Investigations Division (CID). According to state authorities, the investigation began after Keith’s insurance company reported the claims because it couldn’t verify the documentation he presented.
According to CID investigators, Keith submitted 15 counterfeit, fraudulent, or manipulated health insurance claims in order to receive compensation. The insurance company eventually paid out a total of $159,557.50 based on their submissions.
Following the arrest, Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia released a statement underlining the financial cost of insurance fraud on the public.
“When criminals submit fraudulent claims, they aren’t just stealing, they are driving up the costs and insurance premiums for Floridians and their families across the state,” Ingoglia stated. “This arrest serves as a warning to those who attempt to manipulate the insurance system for personal advantage. My investigators will continue to seek and bring fraudsters to justice.
Keith was arrested and charged with creating false and fraudulent insurance claims, uttering a fake instrument, and organizing a plot to defraud.
