A man was killed and a woman was injured in an apparent gang-related shooting in Los Angeles’ Westlake neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at 4 a.m. to reports of shots fired near the junction of 6th and Witmer Streets.
When officers arrived, they discovered a man thought to be in his 30s with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle, according to LAPD Media Relations. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A second victim, named only as an adult woman, drove herself to a nearby hospital with injuries from the shooting. Police stated she was in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an argument between the male victim and several suspects at a nearby party. Police reported gunfire erupted during the confrontation.
Authorities are looking into whether the incident was gang-related.
The culprits are still at large, and no arrests have been made.
The victim’s identification has yet to be published pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is underway, and no other information was immediately available.
