$1M lottery ticket winner sold in Maryland

A Baltimore grandfather has won the top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket, bringing him $1 million.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the man bought a $20 Triple Red 777s scratch-off ticket and realized he had matched the “AUTOWIN 7” symbol. The award beneath the symbol indicated that he had won the game’s $1 million top prize.

The passionate Baltimore Orioles fan told lottery officials that he had previously won smaller rewards, but this was his first big win.

“It was unbelievable,” he explained.

The winner stated that he has not yet determined how he will spend the money and that while he does not have many interests, he may use the award to please himself.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Wawa on 2845 Rolling Road in Windsor Mill. The Baltimore County retailer will be awarded a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.

The Triple Red 7s Family of Games debuted on May 15, with scratch-off tickets ranging in price from $1 to $20. Lottery officials stated that this is the first $1 million top prize claimed in the $20 Triple Red 777s game, with four $1 million top prizes and four $50,000 prizes remaining.
