An Illinois man was taken into custody Saturday morning in the Town of Spring Grove on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in the west 100 block of State Highway 81 just before 11 a.m. It was discovered that the 43-year-old guy had damaged his vehicle after colliding with a traffic barricade sign. He was not wounded and was wearing a seatbelt, according to officials.
The man was detained for OWI and cited for speeding, operating left of center, driving a vehicle with a suspended registration, and reckless driving endangering others’ safety.
He was released to a responsible party and given an upcoming court appearance.
