Brent Gerard, 43, was taken into custody for battery on Saturday after running from deputies.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of domestic battery at a Summerfield property.
Witnesses said that Brent Gerard slapped an 81-year-old man during an argument before being scooped up by a pickup truck and driven away.
Later on Saturday, Gerard was spotted lying in the road in front of the old Marion County Fire Department.
Deputies responded to the sighting by chasing Gerard along County Rd 42, tasering him, and taking him into custody.
Gerard was booked at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $4,500 bond.
