A reckless motorcyclist traveling at over 80 mph was apprehended near a 55+ neighborhood on U.S. Highway 27/441.
At 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, an officer conducting traffic enforcement observed 30-year-old Jarett Young of Ocklawaha riding a white motorbike too closely behind another vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He then passed between two vehicles and accelerated quickly.
As the officer drove out to pursue, he noticed the motorbike doing over 80 mph in a 50 mph zone. Young made repeated unsafe lane changes, followed too closely, and passed multiple vehicles during this period. According to the report, this caused other vehicles to swerve or apply their brakes.
After being pulled over near the Water Oak 55+ community, he was detained for careless driving. The Alaska native was booked into Lake County Jail and released after posting a $500 bond.
