A Summerfield woman who was recently released from prison was apprehended on fentanyl possession charges.
A deputy saw Jessica Ann Zylo, 42, driving a grey Chrysler 300 away from a residence in the 900 block of Southeast Sunset Harbour Road in Summerfield around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
When Zylo noticed a patrol vehicle behind her, she immediately parked on the easement in front of another residence on the avenue. She then stepped out and stood at the barred gate. The deputy parked across the street as she got back into her car, stepped out, and locked it, according to the report.
Zylo then walked to several other adjacent homes without speaking to anyone. The deputy then approached her and enquired as to her current activities. She claimed she was driving the automobile for a friend and trying to bring it to someone’s house in the vicinity, according to the report.
When asked for her driver’s licence, Zylo explained that it had been suspended and that she had recently been released from prison. A check of her driving record revealed that her licence had been suspended as of Feb. 7, 2022, and had been revoked for 60 months owing to being a persistent traffic violator, according to the report. The Florida Department of Corrections reports that she was released from prison this past October.
Zylo also had an out on jail release for felony driving with a suspended or revoked licence. The report also said that she has a prior robbery conviction on February 1, 2018.
At that point, a K-9 team arrived on the scene and positively identified the stench of narcotics coming from Zylo’s vehicle. A search uncovered a glass pipe containing burnt methamphetamine residue in the driver’s seat. According to the investigation, there was a black pouch on the passenger seat with a case of fentanyl inside.
Zylo later claimed the automobile belonged to a friend and none of the drugs were hers. A later examination of her pocketbook revealed a scale with traces of methamphetamine. According to the article, she claimed to have used it to weigh her medical marijuana.
She was detained on accusations of driving with a suspended licence (habitual offender), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of fentanyl. She was booked into Marion County Jail, and bond was set at $6,000.
