2 Washington Women Taken Into Custody After Deputies Seize 1.5 Pounds Of Meth In Post Falls

Two Washington women were taken into custody early Monday morning after Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies allegedly uncovered around 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine during a car search at a Post Falls gas station.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy approached occupants of a vehicle stopped at a petrol station in the 5200 block of West Riverbend Avenue around 2 a.m. on June 8. During what officials described as a consensual encounter, officers discovered suspected illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight.

Based on the probable cause, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered methamphetamine and marijuana in multiple locations. Investigators also discovered a “Smelly Proof” bag containing many plastic bags filled with about 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine.

Deputies arrested Laurie J. Wainwright, 65, of Washougal, Washington, on accusations of trafficking methamphetamine, possessing marijuana, and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police also detained Jeannie L. Sanders, 66, of Washougal, Washington. She was accused with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
