Five people were apprehended and multiple firearms and drugs were recovered during a search warrant operation Friday night in Scotland. Neck following weeks of reported shootings, drug activity, and gang-related complaints, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, about 8:30 p.m., members of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at a home on McDowell Road in Scotland Neck.
Sheriff Tyree Davis said the inquiry was prompted by multiple shooting events reported in the vicinity in recent weeks, as well as public complaints about drugs, firearms, and gang activity associated with the property.
Deputies said many persons fled the location when authorities arrived, resulting in numerous brief foot pursuits before the suspects were caught.
During the search, investigators found three weapons, marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA, and hydrocodone.
The primary suspect was identified by the sheriff’s office as Sha’born R. Hill, 26, of Allison Drive. Hill was charged with a number of criminal offenses, including possessing Schedule II, III, and VI restricted substances with the purpose to manufacture, sell, or deliver them, as well as felony cocaine possession and Schedule VI controlled substance possession. He was detained on a $190,000 secured bond.
Denzell McDaniel, a convicted felon, was also detained and charged with felony possession of a handgun. He was held on a $30,000 secured bond.
Kelvin Williams, A’zhavion Wiggins, and De’Marreon Powell were all accused of resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public official.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, the Scotland Neck Police Department, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives all worked together on the operation.
The investigation continues.
