Akron shooting Claims One Life on Kenmore Boulevard

Akron police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday morning, according to Lt. Michael Murphy.

Around 10 a.m., officers arrived to the 800 block of Kenmore Boulevard after receiving reports of many gunshots, according to Murphy.

According to investigators, two men were sitting outside a smoke store called “Fat Albert Exotics” when several shots were fired at them from a car driving south on 9th Street SW.

Police said they arrived to find a 29-year-old guy lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Murphy claimed the victim worked at the smoking shop.

One of the individuals was able to get away. Murphy added that gunfire struck our victim multiple times, resulting in his immediate death.

According to authorities, the shooter(s) departed the area in a car. Detectives searched the area for witnesses and possibly video evidence. This is extremely troubling for this to happen this early in broad daylight in such a popular residential and commercial area,” Murphy added.
