According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, two people were taken into custody after Greenville County deputies stopped a car on Interstate 385 over the weekend that was moving at 125 mph.
A traffic unit deputy was driving south on I-385 when a car passed at what they called a “very dangerous speed” of 125 mph, according to the deputies.
After stopping the car, the deputy detained the driver on suspicion of speeding.
Deputies found the passenger had an outstanding Orangeburg County warrant during the stop. The passenger was also discovered in possession of a gun, drug paraphernalia, and over a gram of methamphetamine, according to the authorities.
The Greenville County Detention Center received a booking for both of them.
Such high speeds “put everyone on the roadway at risk in a matter of seconds,” according to the sheriff’s office, and deputies are still dedicated to upholding traffic regulations and maintaining road safety.
The identity of the two individuals detained have not yet been made public by the authorities.
