A former member of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club will serve more than nine years in federal prison for two separate assaults on rival motorcycle club members in the Kansas City metro.
Federal prosecutors said Mark A. Cottman, better known as “One Shot,” 51, of Kansas City, Missouri, has been sentenced to 110 months in prison without parole. He was found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, possession of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and assault resulting in serious bodily harm in aid of racketeering.
The first assault occurred on September 17, 2022, when prosecutors claim Cottman and 12 other members of the Pagans and their support club, the Los Valerosos, chased and shoved a lone rival gang member off the road in Blue Springs, Missouri. According to authorities, the group was armed with weapons and at least one axe handle. The man was shot seven times, including wounds in his knee, thigh, forearm, biceps, buttocks, and back of his leg. Prosecutors allege that Cottman was a Pagan potential at the time and later obtained his patch.
A second attack occurred on July 20, 2023, at a pub and grill in North Kansas City, according to court filings. Prosecutors claim Cottman and two other Pagan members attacked a lone rival motorcycle club member after informing him they were coming to take down his group. The victim informed police he was stomped, kicked, and punched by some attackers wearing steel-toed boots, and he sustained a skull contusion, rib fracture, hemothorax, pulmonary contusion, collapsed lung, and traumatic brain injury. The group escaped before the police arrived.
According to court filings, Pagan runs chapters in several states, including Missouri and Kansas.
