A 34-year-old El Salvadorian man has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for illegally entering the United States, according to Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck.
Jose Angel Martinez Menjivar pleaded guilty on February 18. U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison imposed the penalty, and Menjivar is expected to face removal proceedings after serving his jail sentence. Menjivar has previous convictions for illegal re-entry and indecent assault by touching. He was initially removed from the United States in 2022 but was detected again in Houston on July 9, 2025, without permission to be in the nation.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement—Enforcement and Removal Operations handled the investigation, while Carrie Law, Special Assistant US Attorney, prosecuted the case. This investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide program by the Department of Justice to deter illegal immigration and safeguard communities from violent crime, according to the source.
