Two people died May 17 in a two-vehicle crash in Davenport, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to a preliminary investigation, around 3:50 a.m., a Genesis G70 was driving south on U.S. 27 when it collided with a Ford Explorer that was stopped at the light.
According to the PCSO, Demarian Saucier, 21, of Summerfield, suffered fatal injuries while driving the Genesis. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Angela Demetro, 30, of Davenport, was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and later died.
The Explorer’s driver, a 31-year-old Davenport male, was seriously injured and sent to the hospital, according to the PCSO. He’s expected to recover.
The inquiry is ongoing, but no charges are expected.
