Teen Shot In Head Outside Akron Vape Shop; Police Searching For Suspects

A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being shot in the head Friday evening outside a store on Akron’s southeast side, according to police.

According to Akron police, officers arrived to the Vapes R Us parking lot in the 1000 block of South Arlington Street at 7:36 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a shooting.

While authorities were responding, they discovered that someone was bringing the victim to a hospital.

Officers later found the vehicle as it arrived at Summa Health Akron, where they discovered the teenage victim, who had a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

The teen was admitted for further care, and investigators believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

According to early findings, three juvenile males were sitting in a vehicle when several suspects came and opened fire.

According to police, the juveniles attempted to flee the scene but their vehicle collided with a fence. A bystander later transported the injured adolescent to the hospital after being solicited for assistance.

Detectives are evaluating evidence and seeking to identify the suspects, according to authorities.

There have been no arrests announced, and the shooting is still under investigation.
