Police: Man Charged In Skokie Hit-and-run That Killed Pedestrian

A man in suburban Chicago was charged after hitting and killing a pedestrian and leaving the scene, authorities said.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Sunday near Crawford Avenue and Kirk Street in Skokie.

Skokie police reported that a pedestrian was struck by a car that fled the area before officers arrived. According to investigators, the vehicle was heading northbound on Crawford Avenue when it collided with a man crossing westbound.

The pedestrian perished from his injuries. His identity has not been revealed.

Umeshbhai Parikh was arrested at the Skokie Police Station on Monday following an investigation.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one felony count for fleeing the scene of a fatal accident.

Parikh is due to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on May 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Skokie Courthouse.
