3 People Arrested for Operating Chop Shop in Central Florida

Three people were arrested for operating a chop shop in Central Florida.

The three men were arrested after a lengthy investigation into a large-scale vehicle theft organization that operated across numerous states and was centered in Hillsborough County.

Yoan Gonzalez Solorzano, 24, Javier Penate Berbe, and Christien Ravi Bisnath, 31, targeted high-end vehicles from dealerships, auctions, and recent buyers in Florida and other states, stealing an estimated $388,000 in all.

The stolen vehicles were brought to Hillsborough County and sold, dismantled for parts, or altered through false VIN swaps to conceal their identity and resale for profit, according to law authorities.

Detectives located and demolished a chop shop in Riverview, near Tampa, recovering several stolen vehicles, including GMC Yukons, Cadillac Escalades, and a Dodge Charger.

Surveillance video shows a 2021 white GMC Yukon Denali, worth $68,000, being targeted on Causeway Boulevard in Tampa. A silver RAM is seen surveying the area before the Yukon is driven out of the lot shortly after.

The stolen Yukon was eventually found at a Riverview property with replacement wheels, while its original custom rims were installed on another vehicle.

“This operation was calculated and fueled by greed, targeting hardworking businesses and buyers across multiple communities,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Thanks to the efforts of our detectives, this criminal business has been brought down. “If you profit from crime in Hillsborough County, you will face consequences.”

All three individuals were charged with various felonies, including grand theft and operating a chop shop. Local law enforcement officials say the inquiry is still ongoing.
