Leesburg man on bicycle apprehended with drugs

A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after being stopped with marijuana and cocaine in his possession.

According to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department, an officer on patrol noticed Larry Hughes, 62, riding a bicycle southbound on Beecher Street around 11:35 p.m. on Friday, May 1.

Despite the fact that it was midnight, the bicycle’s lights did not work, resulting in a traffic stop on Alabama Street near C & H Neighborhood Groceries. He agreed to a search and stated that he had a “blunt” containing one gram of marijuana in his ball cap. The report also stated that a 0.5-gram packet of cocaine was found in his left shoe.

Hughes was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana (less than 20 grams). He was booked into the Lake County Jail and released after posting a $3,500 bond.
