Man, woman arrested after injured infant airlifted to Louisville hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities recently arrested a man and a woman on charges of criminal abuse of an infant, according to a Kentucky State Police news release.

On Thursday, KSP received a call from Indiana State Police about a two-month-old baby who had been taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indiana by a family member.

Investigators believe the family member brought the infant to the hospital immediately “due to the condition of the child,” after the baby’s parents dropped the child off at the relative’s home.

Officials said the severity of the injuries led to the infant being airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Aurora Hamilton, 21, and Benjamin Reale, 18, both of Smiths Grove, were arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse (victim under 12) and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Hamilton and Reale are currently being held at the Jackson County Detention Center in Indiana as they await extradition. The investigation remains ongoing.
