Indiana man accused of scamming Kentucky resident out of $25K

OAK GROVE, Ky. – Police said an Indiana man has been charged after allegedly carrying out a bank fraud scheme.

According to the Oak Grove Police Department, 55-year-old Wendell Christmas of Merrillville, Indiana, is accused of targeting the Oak Grove Navy Federal Credit Union.

Authorities allege that Christmas organized and directed individuals to steal money from victims using stolen identities.

Police said he scammed one individual out of $25,000 in Oak Grove.

Officials reported that Christmas was arrested by police in Illinois and is now awaiting extradition to Christian County.

He faces charges of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and unlawful access to a computer.
