Officials confirm multiple victims in Algonquin shooting; investigation remains ongoing.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Reports of a shooting involving multiple victims emerged Wednesday in the 1600 block of Brashear Drive in the Algonquin neighborhood.
Just before 7 p.m., MetroSafe confirmed that several people had been shot.
Louisville Metro Police said officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 1200 block of Brashear Drive.
Major Russell Miller with LMPD’s Second Division stated that two victims—a man and a woman—were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third victim, a man, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
A WHAS11 crew observed an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) with a dog at the scene as officers gathered evidence and spoke with residents.
Miller said officers encountered a large and distressed crowd upon arrival. Additional officers were called in to help manage the crowd and secure the area.
“We had to push a lot of people back,” Major Miller said. “It was obviously chaotic, a lot of people out and just really wanting to know what’s going on, upset people of what they just saw or what they’ve just heard about.”
Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the shooting on Brashear Drive. He faces charges including two counts of murder, first-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a minor, according to LMPD.
