LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man received a lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty to multiple gun and drug charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky.

Officials said 52-year-old Sukhjit Bains was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to:

  • Two counts of trafficking in firearms

  • Two counts of distributing 50 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture

  • One count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime

  • Two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person

  • One count of illegal possession of a machine gun, specifically a 3D-printed Glock-style conversion device

According to court documents, Bains sold nine firearms and about two ounces of methamphetamine to a confidential law enforcement source on Nov. 28, 2024. Weeks later, on Dec. 12, he sold another six firearms and about two ounces of meth to the same source.

On Jan. 10, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Bains’ former business, where officers recovered 31 firearms and meth, officials said.

Authorities held Bains responsible for trafficking a total of 99 firearms.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, and Louisville Metro Police all participated in the investigation.
