Authorities are investigating a suspicious house fire that broke out Saturday night in Louisville’s Chickasaw neighborhood.

The Louisville Fire Department responded just after 10 p.m. to a fire at an unoccupied home in the 4400 block of Hale Avenue.

Officials said the fire started in the back of the one-story house, which was boarded up at the time. When firefighters arrived, a nearby resident was attempting to put out the flames.

Fire crews searched the home and confirmed no one was inside. The fire was brought under control within minutes.

No injuries were reported, and the flames were contained to that section of the building, preventing damage to nearby structures.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the fire and the condition of the property, the department’s Arson Unit has been called in to conduct a further investigation.
