WESTERN KENTUCKY (KFVS) – Authorities have arrested a driver involved in a high-speed police chase that stretched across several counties in western Kentucky over the weekend.

According to Kentucky State Police, the incident began around 9 p.m. Sunday, March 8.

A KSP trooper spotted a passenger vehicle on N. 4th Street in Wickliffe with an equipment violation. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away onto KY 286, heading east out of Wickliffe.

The pursuit continued through Ballard County and into McCracken County along U.S. 62.

Law enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle using a tire deflation device at the intersection of U.S. 62 and N. Gum Springs Road, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

KSP said a second attempt near the intersection of U.S. 62 and Interstate 24 successfully deflated two tires on the fleeing vehicle.

Despite that, KSP troopers and deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit onto Interstate 24 and into Marshall County.

Officers with the Calvert City Police Department deployed another tire deflation device that punctured the remaining two tires. Even then, the vehicle continued moving until a KSP trooper intervened.

The vehicle eventually left the roadway and came to a stop on an embankment.

KSP said the driver, identified as 23-year-old Damon L. Crawford of Shively, Kentucky, was arrested.

Crawford faces charges in both Ballard and Marshall counties, including:

First-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle)
Speeding
Reckless driving
Other traffic-related offenses

He was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and the Calvert City Police Department assisted in the incident.
