A 22-year-old woman is in custody after an Indiana State Police cruiser overturned during a police chase in Clarksville on Friday evening.

According to Indiana State Police, troopers attempted to stop a black 2015 Chrysler 200 at around 8:15 p.m. near the 3.4-mile marker on northbound I-65 in Clarksville.

Police said the driver of the Chrysler refused to stop and sped away for about half a mile before crashing into a gold 2003 Ford Crown Victoria.

Initial investigations indicate that after the crash, one of the vehicles involved struck the side of an Indiana State Police cruiser, causing it to overturn onto its side.

Indiana State Police said an unidentified person then exited the Chrysler and ran from the scene on foot.

The trooper was able to exit the overturned cruiser and detain the suspected driver of the Chrysler, identified as 22-year-old Lamyaa Johnson of Louisville.

Two children who were inside the Ford were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville as a precaution. The driver of the Crown Victoria was transported to UofL Hospital with minor injuries.

Both the trooper and Johnson were taken to Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville with minor injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Johnson was booked into the Clark County Jail and faces the following charges:

Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle resulting in bodily injury
Reckless driving
Obstruction of justice
Assisting a criminal
Aggressive driving
