NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A Kentucky man pleaded guilty after triggering a nationwide manhunt in 2021 when he kidnapped his 3-year-old son, Noah, and his 16-year-old cousin, Amber Clare.

Jacob Clare changed his plea in California to guilty on kidnapping and child abduction charges. The court sentenced him to 13 years and eight months in prison.

Clare has remained behind bars since November 2021, when authorities located the three in California following the abduction.

He still faces charges in Tennessee and Kentucky but has not yet gone through court proceedings in those states.

The case led to the passage of Noah’s Law, which allows custodial parents to obtain a court order requiring a non-custodial parent — in this case, Noah’s father — to return a child.
