Kentucky Fugitive Captured in Mingo County

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Authorities have captured a fugitive from the state of Kentucky in Mingo County.

Mingo County Sheriff’s deputies identified Whitney Hurley, 36, of Freeburn, Kentucky, on Thursday morning and arrested her after a brief pursuit in the Rawl, W.Va., community. According to Kentucky State Police, Hurley walked away from the Pike County Detention Center in Kentucky on Wednesday evening around 6 p.m.

Hurley faces charges of being a fugitive from justice, fleeing with reckless indifference, and fleeing on foot.

Mingo County deputies also arrested Lynna Ray Jean Cantrell of Matewan. Authorities charged her with aiding and abetting in a jail escape.
