Louisville — The sentencing of embattled pool company owner Tracy Davenport has been delayed after technical issues prevented her from appearing in court via Zoom.

Davenport, who previously pleaded guilty to theft charges in January, was scheduled to be sentenced this week. The hearing has now been rescheduled for March 2.

According to court records, Davenport and employees under her direction convinced customers in Kentucky and Indiana to sign contracts and pay large upfront deposits for swimming pools that were never completed. Prosecutors said the funds were used for purposes other than what was agreed upon in the contracts.

One victim, Rita Harris, said she paid $74,000 for a pool she needed for health-related reasons but never received. In a statement, Harris described the financial and emotional toll of the experience.

As part of a plea agreement reached in Shelby County, Davenport agreed to plead guilty to theft charges and avoid trial. The agreement also requires her to pay restitution to victims for their financial losses.

It remains unclear how much prison time Davenport could face when she is sentenced next month.
