The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. on February 12 on Garland Avenue in the California neighborhood.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Authorities have identified a 38-year-old man as the latest victim of Louisville’s ongoing gun violence. Jashaun Brown died from multiple gunshot wounds on the night of February 12 on Garland Avenue in the California neighborhood.

The incident left residents of the California Square Apartments shaken and questioning their safety.

“I don’t like it. I don’t like it,” a resident who asked not to be identified said. “It was too much, too close to where people have got kids and stuff around here. We don’t need this.”

Just after 10 p.m., recorded radio traffic captured the moment officers located Brown, who appeared to have died from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses said he was shot while sitting in his car. Some reported seeing a possible suspect run away wearing a black hoodie and a mask.

Police did not confirm those details. Instead, officers went door to door in California Square on Friday the 13th as residents tried to restore a sense of security.

“Pray for people that lose family members and things,” resident Javon Randleman said. “It’s sad, it’s really sad, but it happens. The world we live in.”
