The US National Weather Service in Louisville reports that dry conditions will persist through the end of the workweek, with slightly below-normal temperatures and chilly nights. Temperatures are expected to warm modestly on Friday before the next system brings increasing rain chances late Saturday into Sunday.
Forecasters predict moderate to locally heavy rainfall, with totals ranging from three-quarters of an inch to as much as one and a half inches across much of the region. Communities including Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown and Bowling Green — along Interstate 65, Interstate 64, Interstate 75 and the Western Kentucky Parkway — could experience steady rain on Sunday.
Highs will gradually climb into the 50s this weekend following cooler conditions earlier in the week. Overnight lows will stay chilly through Friday before easing slightly.
Although widespread flooding is not anticipated at this time, heavier bursts of rain could cause water to pool on low-lying roads and reduce visibility, particularly on Sunday.
Drivers on I-65, I-64 and I-75 should expect wet pavement and potentially slower travel late in the weekend.
