ASHLAND, Ky. — A former Kentucky middle school teacher has been sentenced to 132 months in federal prison for attempted online enticement of a minor.
According to a plea agreement, 32-year-old Jordan Cobb of Salyersville was employed as a middle school teacher in April and May 2023 when he engaged in a Snapchat conversation with a former student who was a minor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky said.
Federal prosecutors said Cobb sent the minor a series of sexually explicit messages, offered to provide marijuana, and discussed plans to meet for sexual intercourse.
Under federal law, Cobb is required to serve at least 85% of his prison sentence. After his release, he will be placed under supervision by the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years, according to officials.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kentucky State Police.
