JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WKRC) — A father has been found guilty of stabbing his wife to death after she appeared unimpressed by his Valentine’s Day surprise, then sending a photo of her body to a man he believed she was having an affair with, captioned, “Your fault.”
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, police were called to the home of 35-year-old Taylor Meyer on Feb. 14, 2025, after a man dialed 911 to report receiving a call from 36-year-old Deborah Meyer during which he could hear her screaming for help.
Officers responded to the residence but received no answer when they knocked. Shortly afterward, the 911 caller arrived and showed officers a text message he had just received. The image showed Deborah Meyer lying dead on the floor, along with the caption, “Your fault.”
After viewing the photo, officers forced entry into the home and encountered an aggressive Taylor Meyer, who resisted arrest. Police used control techniques to detain him. Inside the home, officers found Deborah Meyer’s body and three children under the age of five, all of whom were unharmed. Investigators later reported that Deborah had been stabbed approximately 40 times.
During questioning, Taylor told investigators his marriage had been deteriorating since January 2025, when he saw a photo of Deborah holding hands with a co-worker. He said he planned an elaborate Valentine’s Day surprise themed “bringing Paris to you,” which included Eiffel Tower drawings made by their children.
“It was the hardest I’ve ever tried,” Taylor reportedly said. “She just didn’t give a s—.”
Taylor said the couple argued after Deborah left the house around the time he believed the man she was seeing would be getting off work.
“For the last two months I’ve been staying home with the kids every Saturday night while she goes and f—s whoever and lies to my face about it,” Taylor said, according to the affidavit.
He told investigators Deborah returned about 20 minutes later. While she was in the bathroom, Taylor attempted to read messages on her smartwatch and then demanded her cellphone. When she refused, the argument turned physical.
“He stated that during the argument she punched him in the face and he grabbed her and took the cellular phone and told her, ‘I’m stronger than you,’” the affidavit said. “[Taylor] told me during this initial interview at the hospital that it was ‘all wrestling and hitting, and I started choking her. She hit me with a water bottle and I hit her with a wine bottle and then I went and got the knife.’”
According to Taylor, Deborah asked, “What are you going to do, kill me? You’re going to hurt me and leave our kids with no parents?”
Taylor then used Deborah’s phone to call the man he believed was her boyfriend. That call prompted the man to contact 911. During the call, Deborah could be heard screaming as Taylor said, “It’s your f—ing fault. You want to run my marriage and tear my family apart.”
Taylor told police he struck Deborah with a wine bottle until she lost consciousness. He said he then retrieved a large kitchen knife and stabbed her in the chest multiple times to ensure she was dead. Afterward, he took a photo of her body and sent it to the man he believed she was having an affair with, matching what officers later observed.
In January 2026, Taylor Meyer was convicted on one count of murder.
