LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man was arrested after striking a Louisville Metro Police officer with a bulldozer while attempting to flee, according to police.
Jacob Geary, 24, is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police and third-degree assault of a police officer.
According to an arrest citation, LMPD responded to the 5100 block of Cane Run Road around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers identified Geary as the individual and learned he had outstanding warrants while driving a bulldozer on the property.
When officers approached and ordered him to exit the bulldozer, the citation said Geary made direct eye contact with them and continued driving away.
Police said officers knocked on the bulldozer’s window and again instructed Geary to stop and get out.
As one officer attempted to open the bulldozer’s cabin door, Geary allegedly began spinning the vehicle. LMPD said the bulldozer struck the officer in the forehead, leaving a visible red mark.
The citation said Geary also hit a car and nearly struck several other officers with the bulldozer.
Officers continued to follow Geary on foot as he drove the bulldozer on and off the property.
According to the citation, Geary eventually agreed to exit the bulldozer and was taken into custody.
Geary appeared in court Thursday morning for arraignment, where a judge set his bond at $10,000.
