Louisville Woman Hospitalized After Accidental Shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman was hospitalized Wednesday evening after accidentally shooting herself, according to Louisville Metro Police.

The LMPD First Division responded to University Hospital shortly after 7 p.m. after an adult female was brought in privately with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The woman initially reported that the shooting occurred on 22nd Street at Osage Avenue and claimed she had been assaulted and shot during a robbery by two unknown men.

Police later confirmed that the woman accidentally shot herself near National Turnpike and that no robbery took place.

The Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is actively investigating.
