Andrew Billingslea and Jonathan Jones were arrested in Pikeville in November. Billingslea has now been indicted on federal drug charges.
LONDON, Ky. — A Louisville man arrested after allegedly bringing pounds of methamphetamine into Pike County has now been indicted in federal court.
Andrew Billingslea, 33, is charged with possession of more than 500 grams of meth with intent to distribute.
He was arrested on Nov. 16 after Pikeville Police received a tip that he would be transporting meth into Pikeville. Officers patrolled U.S. 23 and soon spotted him driving into the county, followed by a “trail car.” Police say using two vehicles is a common tactic used by drug traffickers to avoid detection.
When Billingslea stopped for gas, officers moved in and arrested both him and the second driver, Jonathan Jones, 35, also of Louisville. Police say they found 3.2 pounds of meth between the two vehicles.
If convicted, Billingslea faces a possible sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison.
Jones still faces meth trafficking and persistent felony offender charges in Pike Circuit Court.
