Grocery stores across Indiana are returning to normal operations and preparing for additional merchandise deliveries after hazardous weather conditions over the weekend.

A major snowstorm forced many stores nationwide to close early on Jan. 25.

Kroger store hours

Kroger is operating normally at many locations across its Great Lakes region.

Five Kroger stores in Bloomington, Indiana, closed early at 8 p.m. on Sunday but reopened Monday morning, according to a company spokesperson.

In the Louisville, Kentucky, area, Kroger stores closed at 7 p.m. Sunday and planned to reopen at 8 a.m. Monday.

Stores in the Columbus, Ohio, area and across West Virginia closed at 6 p.m. Sunday and resumed normal hours on Monday.

Kroger locations in northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, areas also closed at 6 p.m. Sunday. The company had not released updates for those locations’ Monday schedules.

Meijer regular hours

Meijer stores remained open during their regular hours of 6 a.m. to midnight throughout the weekend storms, and those hours continued on Jan. 26 as teams focused on restocking shelves.

“Our stores are working hard to get products on the shelves, and extra trucks are on the way with deliveries,” a company spokesperson said Monday morning.

The retailer noted that stores are typically restocked multiple times each day, though difficult road conditions have affected distribution across the Midwest. The company said it expects additional deliveries daily and that teams are restocking items as quickly as possible.

Walmart and Sam’s Club updates

Hundreds of Walmart and Sam’s Club locations remained closed Monday morning due to the weekend storms, but that number dropped to fewer than 100 by noon.

“The safety of our customers and associates is always our top priority when making decisions about store or club closures or adjusted hours,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “We continuously monitor weather conditions and work closely with local officials as conditions evolve.”

The company said it is working to replenish merchandise and ensure essential items are available.

“During severe weather, we focus on making sure customers and communities have what they need, using Walmart’s supply chain to respond quickly and effectively,” spokesperson Mark Rickel said. “We are taking steps to help ensure essential items are available in communities that were impacted.”

He added that the company is also coordinating with community and nonprofit partners to support local response efforts.

As of noon on Jan. 26, fewer than 100 Walmart and Sam’s Club locations remained closed, including a Sam’s Club in Clarksville, Indiana.
