LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman in August.

Louisville Metro Police said the teenage boy was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with complicity to murder and fetal homicide, wanton endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence in the killing of 28-year-old Jermia Offutt.

Offutt was shot and killed on Aug. 13 in the 4100 block of West Broadway. Officers responded to the area around 9 p.m. and found Offutt suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to UofL Hospital, where she later died. Offutt was pregnant with her fourth child at the time of the shooting, and the unborn child also died.

The teen is the second person charged in the deaths of Offutt and her unborn child. In October, Deonize Lee Jr. was indicted in connection with her murder and two additional killings.

Lee faces charges in the deaths of Offutt, Mozell Issaacc Johnson Jr., and Johnson’s stepfather, Jeremy Thomas. He is also charged with fetal homicide related to the death of Offutt’s unborn child. Lee pleaded not guilty during his Oct. 10 arraignment, and his bond was set at $150,000. He remains held at Metro Corrections, with his next court appearance scheduled for Feb. 13.

The name of the teenager arrested Tuesday has not been released because he is a juvenile.
