LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police took a 28-year-old man into custody Monday afternoon after he barricaded himself inside a St. Matthews home with a juvenile while reportedly armed and experiencing a mental health crisis.

Police said Clint Dean Lobig forced another person out of a residence in the 100 block of Wiltshire Avenue before barricading himself inside. Officers secured the area, and LMPD’s SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation Team were called to the scene.

Around 3:20 p.m., Lobig surrendered peacefully. The juvenile was not injured and was evaluated by EMS.

Lobig faces multiple charges, including first-degree strangulation related to domestic violence, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a minor, second-degree assault, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

According to an arrest citation, Lobig’s mother told police there was a baby and a gun inside the home and said her son is a convicted felon before the call disconnected.

Police also said Lobig claimed he was involved in a shooting Sunday near a nearby laundromat, telling officers he fired at a maroon SUV because he believed it was following him.

Lobig is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning, Jan. 20.
