A man will serve 90 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of Contrel Jackson three years ago in Marion.
According to online court documents from Grant Circuit Court, Shaun Harden was sentenced to 95 years in prison, 90 of which will be served in the Indiana Department of Correction and the remaining five suspended.
Harden’s punishment comes after his jury trial, which concluded last month and found him guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. On Wednesday, he received 60 years with five suspended for murder and an extra 35 years for his other offense, bringing his total time served to 90.
Previous reports describe how Jackson’s body was discovered on August 22, 2023, near the junction of W. 16th Street and S. Miller Avenue. He was found with a single gunshot wound in the head.
After conducting an investigation into the murder, police arrested Harden, Da’Von Bynum, and Dejuan Martin. The trio was captured a few days later after authorities discovered the vehicle they suspected they drove after the shooting parked outside a residence on Indianapolis’ near northwest side.
Court documents show that Harden has a lengthy criminal past. He has previously been charged with false informing, strangling, battery resulting in bodily injury, and a number of drug-related offenses in Marion County.
According to online court records, Bynum and Martin’s jury trials will begin on January 25, 2027. They are also facing allegations of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
