Police are investigating after a 1-year-old girl died on Chicago’s North Side on Saturday morning.
The girl was discovered unresponsive around 11:40 a.m. in the 2600 block of W. Rosemont Avenue in West Ridge. Police stated that she had visible injuries to her lower body.
She was brought to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, where she passed away.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the girl as Maombi Joyeuse, who was one year old.
Area Three detectives are investigating the death. An autopsy is underway.
